Sept 2014 opening for Best Western Hotel in i-City

SHAH ALAM: i-City, a 29.14-hectare freehold ultrapolis here, will have its first three-star hotel by September next year.

The 216-room Best Western boutique hotel, developed by I-Berhad, developer of i-City, will be managed by the world's largest hotel chain, Best Western International.

"The hotel is the third building block in the development of i-City as a tourism destination," said Deputy chairman of I-Berhad, Datuk Eu Hong Chew.

He said this at the signing ceremony between i-City and Best Western International for the development of the hotel here today.

The strategic partnership will see Best Western International managing the hotel as well as the soon-to-be unveiled Best Western Service Suites by providing hospitality and building management service for a period of 5+5 years.

Eu said the hotel, which has a gross development value of RM50 million, will be the first of two hotels planned for i-City.

He said I-Berhad will also extend its collaboration with Best Western International to include the management of 826 units of Best Western Service Suites which were expected to be completed by 2016.

Earlier, Selangor Menteri Besar, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, who witnessed the signing ceremony, said the Best Western hotel will provide quality accommodation choice for foreign visitors and help lift the state's tourism industry
